Early Years

Our Nursery is managed by an experienced teacher and staffed by a team of highly skilled Nursery Nurses and Teaching Assistants.

We are passionate about creating a safe and stimulating learning environment that supports young children in developing and extending their knowledge and skills. We achieve this by:

• Nurturing warm and positive relationships between staff, children and their families.
• Providing high quality education and care where children are able to learn through play and first-hand experiences both indoors and outside.
• Supporting children in achieving their potential through high expectations and providing good role models.

We provide 30 Nursery places per session. These are available to children from the term following their third birthday. Children are eligible for a minimum of fifteen hours of funded provision per week, with working parents able to claim extra hours of funded provision.

Supporting children to begin their educational journey gives us an important role in the Nursery and Reception classes at Wantage C of E Primary School.

Following the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework, we promote and nurture the fundamental stages of development through child-led exploration and a play-based curriculum. We have set up our environment to enable children to develop and practice their skills, pursue their own interests and have hands-on learning experiences.  

Our teachers and Foundation Stage staff develop positive relationships with every pupil, enabling us to respond to their needs and interests. Each child is encouraged to take his or her own individual journey towards achieving their Early Learning Goals.

We inspire and encourage pupils to take risks, follow their passions and make progress in their learning in order to create resilient, capable and confident learners.
