Pupil Parliament Visit to the Houses of Parliament

Dear Diary

Today we (Pupil Parliament Years 4, 5 and 6) went to the Houses of Parliament. It was very fancy, and we went in the way that King Charles goes in. We went on an amazing tour all around the House of Lords and the House of Commons.

On the tour, we went to the Robing Room. The Robing Room is a room where the King puts on his robe and his crown (which apparently weighs the same as 2 bags of sugar). Next we went to the House of Lords, also known as the Lords' Debating Chamber, where we learnt about parliamentary 'Ping-Pong'. Each house has its own colour: the House of Commons is green, the House of Lords is red, and the King is represented as gold.

After our tour, we had a workshop led by a man called Scott. We had to guess what the items were in six bags - we got them all right!

At the end of the workshop, our MP, Mr Ollie Glover, came in to see us. He was really nice, and we asked him a lot of questions about being an MP. He had only been doing his job for 3 months.

After that, we had lunch in a park next to the Houses of Parliament. Everyone was very grateful as we were extremely hungry.

We walked over Westminster Bridge to get back to the minibus, and we had a great view of Big Ben.

We learnt a lot today about the Houses of Parliament. This has been a great day.
